Professor Gou Xiaoping's research paper was published in the Plant Cell as cover story

October 14,2022

The development of anthers is very important for plant sexual reproduction. Receptor kinases BAM1/2 and RPK2 play an important role in regulating the early development of anthers, but their downstream signal transduction mechanism has not been revealed.

Recently, the Plant Cell published a research paper entitled "CIK receptor kinases determine cell fate specification during early anther development in Arabidopsis". The study was comleted by Professor Gou Xiaoping, member of the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Cell Activities and Stress Adaptations. This work revealed the molecular and genetic mechanisms of receptor kinase CIKs regulating early anther development in Arabidopsis thaliana. It was found that CIKs, as co-receptors of BAM1/2 and RPK2, regulated sporogenous cell division and anther wall cell differentiation. Cui Yanwei, a doctoral student, is the first author. Hu Chong, a Youth Investigator, Zhu Yafen, a doctoral student, and Cheng Keli participated in this project.
